Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Mendios Technologies Bangalore Pvt Ltd (WebMobi) ("Cortu", "we", "us") governing your use of cortu.app, the Cortu mobile app, the ChatGPT and Claude connectors, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Cortu is

Cortu turns what you learn in AI study conversations into atomic concept cards and helps you revise them with spaced repetition. You bring the material — from your own ChatGPT or Claude, a pasted note, or an uploaded document — and Cortu stores the distilled concepts, generates recall cards, schedules revision, tracks your progress, and produces printable study packs.

2. Eligibility and your account

• You must be at least 13 years old and old enough to form a binding contract where you live. If you are under 18, use Cortu only with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or teacher.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details and for keeping your login secure.
• You are responsible for all activity under your account, and must tell us promptly of any unauthorized use.
• One person or entity per account; do not share credentials.

3. The AI connectors

When you link a connector, you authorize it through OAuth to save concepts into your Cortu account. The connector sends only the structured concepts you choose to save — your conversation stays in your AI app. ChatGPT and Claude are third-party products of OpenAI and Anthropic and are governed by their own terms; your use of those apps is between you and them. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to save any material you send to Cortu.

4. Your content and ownership

You own the concepts, notes, and study data you create or save in Cortu ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you (for example, to sync it across your devices and generate your study packs). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained transiently in backups on their normal cycle. We do not use Your Content to train machine-learning models and we do not sell it.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything unlawful, infringing, deceptive, or harmful.
• Upload content you do not have the right to use, or that infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights.
• Attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the security of the Service or its rate limits.
• Access the Service through automated means except via the connectors and APIs we provide.
• Resell or redistribute the Service without our written permission.

Academic integrity. Cortu is a study aid built for active recall and long-term retention. It is not a tool for cheating. Do not use Cortu to obtain, store, or transmit answers during an exam, test, or any assessment where doing so violates the rules of your school, institution, certification body, or applicable law. You are solely responsible for complying with your institution's academic-honesty policies.

6. AI-generated content — accuracy and no professional advice

Concept cards and recall questions are distilled from AI conversations and other material you provide. AI-generated content can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Cortu does not verify the factual accuracy of what you save. You are responsible for checking anything important against authoritative sources — textbooks, official syllabi, and qualified instructors. Nothing in Cortu is professional advice of any kind (including medical, legal, financial, or academic-admissions advice), and you should not rely on it as such or use it to make high-stakes decisions without independent, qualified review.

7. Plans and payment

Cortu is currently offered free of charge. If we introduce paid plans, the price, billing cycle, and any trial terms will be shown before you pay, and additional payment terms may apply. Payments will be handled by a third-party payment processor or app store — Cortu does not directly collect or store your payment-card details. Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are also subject to those stores' terms, including their refund policies.

8. Service availability and changes

We work to keep Cortu available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and we may impose reasonable usage limits. We will give reasonable notice of material adverse changes where practicable.

9. Intellectual property

The Service itself — including Cortu's software, design, brand, and content we create — is owned by Cortu and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service; they do not transfer any of our rights to you. "Cortu" and our logo are our marks and may not be used without permission.

10. Third-party services

The Service integrates third-party providers (including OpenAI, Anthropic, Supabase, Vercel, and Resend). We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service or the content within it will be accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cortu and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, study progress, profits, or opportunities, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including reliance on AI-generated content. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cortu and its personnel from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, use the Service unlawfully, or create risk or legal exposure for us. On termination, your right to use the Service ends and Your Content is deleted in line with our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, governing law) survive termination.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. For material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-app or by email. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any non-waivable rights under your local law, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration.

17. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in full force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Cortu regarding the Service.
